P.S. to the Rood reunion and quick trip to WA

About an hour before Laura, Jeff, Lindsey, and Ben were going to go to the airport to fly home, a massive tree branch fell from a tree in our yard onto their rental car. The weekend had gone so well until that point, but it does make for a memorable trip! They were able to get the rental car company to pick up the car, and then Mr. B drove them to the airport and my landlord came right away to clean up the debris and call a tree service. It could have been so much worse, so we are grateful.

When Kelley and her family left a couple hours later, they took Audrey home with them for the week. She had a great time going to the lake and the zoo and hanging out with her cousins--all girls on this side of the family and poor Audrey never got a sister. So some girl time was just the ticket!

Of course I had to go pick her up, so I bought myself a plane ticket and spent the weekend sewing and hanging out with my mom. We learned how to make book sleeves!

My amazing dad and mom.

The siblings gathered again at my parents' to celebrate McKenna's birthday. I can never get enough of my family--this was heaven.

Before I left on my trip, Declan really wanted to get Laura more sea glass. She had been about to spend the last hour before going to the airport in pursuit of more sea glass, but the rental car catastrophe canceled that plan. So Declan, Ian, and I went to the beach and got a whole small jar of glass collected for her as a gift. She was so pleased! Here are the boys on the hunt:

Rood reunion part 2

Our first day we went to see Redwoods at Henry Cowell State Park (see below) and our second day we went kayaking at Moss Landing (the beach was both days). The second night was Paul's birthday, so we celebrated with a surprise confetti popper, grilled pork dinner, two cakes and nonstop talking and fun.

The whole crew!!

My dad calls us the Sanderson sisters (from the Hocus Pocus movie) and Kelley got us these shirts. Sistahs!

Rood reunion beach fun and tide pools

For a weekend in July, four of my siblings and some of their family members came to visit. We had 10 visitors total, and four who stayed with us. Then when those four left, two others moved from the hotel in for a couple of days. It was a full house and I loved it!
My brother Ben and his frisbee skills

My sister Kelley, her husband Patrick, and their girls McKenna and Lizzy

My brother Paul and his boyfriend Ryun

My sister Laura and her husband Jeff

This is how we get to the beach--walked from the house

Jeff playing with Ian and Declan. Jeff has been married to my sister for a year and he is a wonderful addition to our family--he's kind and easygoing and fun.
