September

Audrey wanted to bake one day, so I helped her try this new recipe: Crumbl copycat chocolate chip cookies. They were good but we probably won't make them again. We're such cookie connoisseurs.

Fun family bike ride along 17 mile drive, now that we all have bikes the right size.

So bright!

I took Audrey on a walking tour of Cannery Row for a John Steinbeck assignment. This is Ed Rickett's lab (the character Doc from Cannery Row is inspired by him).

Here's the man himself. Audrey's on her way to becoming a Steinbeck fan along with me.

Of course we had to get lobster nachos from Oceanside Lalla Grill on our outing.

The Butterfly parade was virtual this year and it was pretty fun to watch. Here's Declan's contribution.

One Sunday evening Audrey and I went for a walk while the male members of the family rode bikes. Love my daughter.

Declan and Bonnie head to Puyallup

Plane tickets have been so cheap that I decided to take Declan with me and visit my parents for my mom's birthday. We had great flights and a fun time with our family, visiting Owen beach, making yummy food, relaxing and catching up.

My sister Kelley and my mom

He loves throwing rocks in the water. And being with family too!

Ben, McKenna, Lizzy, Declan, and Kenny. Ben and Kenny are my brothers and the girls are Kelley's kids.

My good friend Kristin picked us up from the airport so we could hang out for a bit! So good to see her. We took our kids out to Red Robin for National Cheeseburger day. So nice to eat in a restaurant--we're only outdoor dining here in California still.

While we were gone, Mr. B, Ian and Audrey had a good time playing games, getting takeout, and of course school and work. Now that Declan and Audrey have enjoyed solo Puyallup visits, it will be Ian's turn in November!

August happened

August was a weird month. I spent a lot of energy worrying about distance learning, then getting used to distance learning. We did a few fun things before school started too, but I was just glad when August was over, to be honest.

The boys got to help Mr. B clean the roof. They loved it.

I pushed pause on my cookie bakery, Bonnie Bakes Cookies, because I was overwhelmed. But on the plus side, I had more time for experiments, like these pistachio cupcakes with strawberry frosting.

Spencer and I had a date night and got ice cream at a new restaurant in town, Lucy's.

The kids on their first day of distance learning. All of them (and me) shed tears the first couple of weeks, but all of us have been troopers and just kept going.
Mr. B planted zucchini and we've been enjoying eating them. First garden!

Declan and I made these bean bags so he could use them for PE at home. He helped quite a bit with the sewing and played with them nonstop for about a week.
